Planning a Cappadocia Balloon Proposal
A sunrise over Cappadocia's fairy chimneys, with dozens of balloons drifting across the valley, is one of the more popular proposal settings in the world. It's also a shared basket with other passengers, an early wake-up, and a schedule set by the weather — so a bit of planning goes a long way. Here's what to think through before you book.
Tell Us It's a Proposal
Let us know when you book that you're planning to propose, and we'll pass that on to the assigned operator so the pilot and crew are aware. We can't guarantee a specific route or altitude — that decision belongs to the pilot on the day, based on wind and safety — but operators are generally happy to help make the moment work when they know in advance.
It's a Shared Basket
The Sunrise Balloon Flight carries 22–28 passengers in one basket — it is not a private charter. If that matters to you, plan around it: most fellow passengers notice a proposal happening nearby, go quiet, and cheer once the answer comes, but you should expect an audience rather than a private moment.
Keep the Ring Secure
Balloon baskets have waist-high walls, so items don't fall out easily, but mornings are cold and cold hands fumble. Keep the ring in an inner, zippered pocket rather than an outer one — see our what to wear guide for season-by-season clothing advice.
Plan Around the Weather
Flights are weather-dependent, and the go/no-go call is made by the operator on the morning itself. If you're planning a proposal around a tight schedule, build in a spare morning where possible — see our weather and cancellation policy for how rescheduling works.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a proposal balloon flight cost?
Our flight costs EUR 150 per person, which includes hotel pick-up and drop-off, a light snack with hot and cold drinks, approximately 60 minutes of flight time, a champagne celebration, and a flight certificate. See our pricing page for full details.
Will other passengers see the proposal?
Very likely, since the balloon carries 22–28 passengers. Many couples find this works in their favour—fellow passengers tend to notice, go quiet, and then cheer once the answer comes. Other balloons may also be flying nearby, but they are at a distance and focused on their own experience.
Can I bring my own photographer?
We do not offer a separate in-basket photographer, and outside photographers cannot join the flight. There is no photo or videography service where the pilot takes or sends you photos, so bring your own camera or phone to capture the moment. Let us know at booking that you are planning a proposal so we can flag the moment to the operator.
What if the flight is cancelled due to weather?
If your flight is cancelled before departure for weather or operational safety reasons, your booking is refunded (a per-passenger card-processing fee applies to card refunds; cash or bank-transfer refunds have no deduction). Rebooking to a new date is not automatic or free—it is a new booking, subject to that day's price and availability. This can be confirmed the evening before, or at the last minute on the morning of the flight. Read our weather and cancellation policy for details.
How far in advance should I book?
For proposals, availability varies by season and each morning has limited spots—we recommend requesting your date as soon as your travel dates are confirmed, especially during peak season (May–September). Request your flight or message us on WhatsApp to discuss your plan.
